Dermal Filler
Injectectable fluids which are used to create volume, contour the face, plump the lips and can be used to correct the nose or jawline
They vary in particulate size depending on where in the face they are being used and the depth the injector needs to go. Dermal fillers are a form of synthetic hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in our bodies. A client requiring cheek augmentation would need a thicker dermal filler, with larger particles to give optimum volume and contour. In clinic, we only use Juvaderm® and Restylane®.
A client requiring a dermal filler for the correction of fine, superficial lines, will only need a very viscous filler which will settle and just gently soften the lines. Your nurse will provide a full consultation prior to treatment to discuss your concerns and explain fully what results you can expect from your treatment. Filler is charged per ml and amount of mls varies depending on the patient and the area being treated.
Treatment Information
- How long does the treatment take?
We generally block out an hour for dermal fillers, this is mainly because we like to allow the anaesthetic to work before we treat you, therefore making the procedure less uncomfortable. - Is this treatment uncomfortable?
Dermal fillers can be a little painful in the lip area but cheek fillers and naso labial folds are really just a little uncomfortable. - How many treatments are required?
Usually one initial treatment is required, however some clients come back at a later stage to have additional filler put in if they feel the initial dose was not enough. Maintenance for dermal filler is usually performed every 6 months.
FAQ
- Who is this treatment for?
Dermal fillers are for anyone who has lost facial volume or for those that would like their lips plumped up. Please note we do not see clients under the age of 18. - How quickly can I see results?
The results are immediate but take several days for the full effect of the treatment to be seen. - How long do the results last?
Results vary due to the fact that some clients will break down their filler very quickly. The amount of time a client will see results can range from 3 months to a year, possibly longer with certain fillers that are designed to break down at a slower rate, such as the Juvederm Vycross range.
