Line Reducing Injectables

Botulinum toxin is a prescription, naturally produced protein used to temporarily relax muscles

It is administered by means of injections, the brands of botulinum toxin we use in clinic are BOTOX® and Azzalure®. All injectables are performed by our Aesthetic nurse prescriber Victoria Parsons. Toxin temporarily prevents the release of acetylcholine from sympathetic nerve terminals, therefore relaxes muscles and softens fine lines and wrinkles. Results are not apparent straight away, and a 2 week review is required to come back into the clinic and see the nurse for an additional top up once the toxin has settled if needed. A full consultation is required prior to having Botulinum toxin injected, to discuss potential risks, medical conditions, the desired outcome and check for suitability and the strength of the muscle contraction. Results usually last between 3-5 months on most patients, depending on the strength of the muscle.

Botulinum toxin is most commonly used to treat:

  • Hyperhidrosis (Excessive sweating)
  • Bruxism (Teeth Grinding)
  • Crows Feet (Fine lines around the eye area)
  • Eyebrows/Hooded eyes
  • Glabella Lines (Between the eyebrows)
  • Frown Lines on the forehead
  • Around the mouth
  • Chin (For dimpling)

Treatment Information

  • How long does the treatment take?
A consultation prior to toxin will take approximately 20 minutes, Following this the treatment itself only takes a few minutes. No Anaesthetic cream is required.
  • Is this treatment uncomfortable?
No, we use tiny insulin needles to deliver the toxin to the muscle and therefore this is a relatively painless treatment.
  • How many treatments are required?
We generally see the patient twice, the initial treatment is where we inject the largest amount of product and we invite you back to the clinic two weeks later to review and tweak anything we feel is not perfect. There is no additional charge for the top up.
